38 weeks

Welp I am still pregnant...LOL! All these contractions and he is still content to be in momma's tummy! I had my 38 week dr apt today and she checked me to see if I had made any progress and a big fat NO. NOTHING. ugh....really??? I knew in my head this could happen, in fact I said something in a previous post, but I didn't realize how unfun it is to be going through this and have it come out with no progress. Mentally it is easy to say this but emotionally it is much harder. I was SO hoping I would go into labor on my own this time...and I still might but I think I have come to the point where I am just planning on my induction date. Other than that small disappointment all is going well. He is looking as big and healthy as ever! I have a lot to be thankful for and am trying to remind myself that while I wait for this week and some days to pass :) Here are some pictures of me at 38 weeks. I also am going to include some pictures of me 38 weeks preggo with Saffryn and you can see what a difference the two are!!!

38 weeks pregnant with Jr.!!! (can't wait to reveal his name)!

This picture REALLY cracks me up...You really get an idea of how far he sticks out. hahahahahaha!!!!

Happy Easter

Today was not Saffryn's first Easter, but it felt like it because last year she was only 4 months old and didn't know what was going on. But I can say with confidence that she LOVED Easter this year! We waited until after church to come home and do our Easter baskets and litte egg hunt. She was so excited as soon as she saw her basket! She has played with Easter Eggs before at Papa and Gigi's so she knew how to open them, but this time there was a little surprise in there...JELLY BEANS!!! YUM! It took her no time at all to figure out they were delicious and try to eat as many as she could...hehehe. Her basket was super simple this year, a few pieces of candy and the movie "Finding Nemo".

Then we had a little egg hunt in the living room because it was a little too chilly outside. I was not too sure how she was going to do with the egg hunt. I was afraid she would not understand the point of it but she did great! I asked her to go find the eggs and put them in the basket and that is exactly what she did! We then enjoyed a nice big lunch and took a nap!!! After naptime she watched Finding Nemo with her daddy (I got to take a nap). She really enjoyed the beginning part he said...after about 15-20 minutes she wanted to play and just kept it on in the background!

We had a really fun day! We had a special guest over for the weekend and loved getting to spend some time with her! Thanks for coming Kendra! Saffryn had a great time today and we loved seeing her enjoy herself so much. She loved playing with the eggs and baskets all day and evening. Crash loved having jelly beans on the floor to eat and mess with...hehe. Happy Easter! Here are our pictures of the day:

Such a cutie!!! She even let me put a bow in her hair today!

37 weeks

I had my 37 week check-up today. I gained a few more pounds and my blood pressure and urine looked good! He is actually measuring smaller this time and the Dr checked me and said it is because he has dropped..woohoo! I thought maybe he had, but I dunno I can never really be sure. She said I was not quite dilated to a 3 but that my cervix had changed some and she thought it would just continue to do so now that he has dropped! She said that I really may not need to be induced this time because my body looks like it is making the preparations it needs to. I sure hope so!!! Yippee!!! She fully expects to see me for my apt next week so we still have a little bit of a wait...but now its really countdown time. Two weeks and some change until my induction date...wow!

So on a slightly unrelated topic I have been asked how has this pregnancy compared to my pregnancy with Saffryn. And so far completely different!!! I can't wait to find out if that reflects on their personalities which I am guessing it will..

My first trimester with Saffryn I was super sensitive to foods. I HAD to eat every 2 hours on the dot or I would get so sick. Heavy, greasy and smelly foods also really needed to be avoided and I just couldn't handle them. So basically I just ate fruit smoothies (Dan was a great sport and made them for me a lot) and rice chex with a little bit of milk. By 14 weeks, it passed and I felt really good.

My first trimester with Jr it was all about sleep! I could eat whatever/whenever I wanted and not be affected at all. I never really felt queasy or sickly. However I was SO tired. I would fall asleep at 8pm and sleep solid until Saffryn woke up at 7ish. She was still taking two naps at the time and I would too. And with all that sleep I still felt so draggy and tired. It was all I could do to find some energy to take care of Saffryn. By about 18 weeks I finally got some energy back and started feeling good!

The second trimester with both was great. Lots of energy! I started showing much earlier with Jr...but that was to be expected. With both I was really anxious to get to the third trimester and start wrapping it up :)

The third trimester with Saffryn I craved...CHOCOLATE!!! I am not much of a chocolate eater so this was a big surprise to Dan and myself really. I also wanted pickles and popcorn...together!!!! hehehe! It took me forever to feel Saffryn move initially and that didn't change too much in my third trimester. I felt like I needed to do kick counts all the time to make sure she was moving enough...it was SO stressful for me. I thought I was "all belly" with Saffryn but I gained over 40lbs and people never commented on my tummy being big. I think I honestly gained more all over with her. All of my stretch marks from her were on my hips and thighs (sorry if this is TMI). I didn't get any on my tummy with her...so in hindsight I don't think I was "all belly"... The last think about Saffryn's last trimester is one of the few times I could really get her moving was while I was playing Beatles Rock Band. Its so funny because she still LOVES music so much. I would love to say she is partial to The Beatles, but honestly it is all kinds of music!

The third trimester with Jr has been so different. I started feeling him move around 18-19 weeks and he hasn't stopped yet. LOL!!!! I have never worried about him moving enough. He actually has kept me awake at night from moving so much and that never happened with Saffryn. Also as far as cravings go its JUNK FOOD!!! Fast food, soda, cheetos and all kinds of other garbage!!!! It was also really heavy foods like biscuits and gravy, fried chicken and mashed potatoes. So strange!!! He doesn't seem to change at all during music times so I am wondering if he wont be as interested in it as his sister is! This time around I can honestly say I am "all belly" I have gained less weight with him and constantly get comments on how big I look because my belly is sticking out so far! I have only gotten stretch marks on my tummy this time around, no where else.

As my due date approached with Saffryn I basically did not dilate. I never experienced a contraction...not even braxton hicks, until I was induced. I know you might think I am lying or maybe didn't know what I was feeling but I really didn't experience them with her. I am convinced she would have stayed in there as long as I would have given her. True to form she is still very much a comfort zone kind of girl! Slow to warm up to strangers or new places. She is also very much a Momma's girl (which I love)!

At 37 weeks with Jr I am already almost a 3 (I know I already said that) and have experienced some contractions! Yes they died down and have yet to come back but I really think they will come back in time. He has dropped and seems more ready to make his appearance than Saffryn was. Can't wait to see what kind of labor and delivery I will have with him.

All this reflection makes me SO SUPER EXCITED TO MEET HIM!!!! What is he going to be like? Who is he going to look like? Only a few more weeks and we will find out :) Here are some pictures of me at 37 weeks. Sorry this was so long apparently I even talk too much in print form!

37 weeks...so big!

Bird Seed

First of all a small back story ( sorry I seem to be a big fan of back stories, don't I): last year I got a little bird feeder to go in our tree in the back yard. I was so excited to feed those greedy little animals...hehe! Really they are greedy I had to fill that feeder all the time! Well I mistakingly kept the bird seed in my pantry. A little while later I saw these little bugs in our flour. I assumed they were from the flour, so I threw out our flour. The next day while we were eating cereal we found bugs in there, too....YUCK! I checked the pantry and found them EVERYWHERE! I had to throw away almost everything!!!! I did a major major clean and called the exterminator. I was still thinking they were from the flour, but in the process of cleaning out the pantry Dan put the bag of bird seed in the garage. Well a few weeks later Dan was doing something in the garage I can't remember what and came across the bag of bird seed COVERED in those small bugs, looks like we found the pantry sourse...OOPS! LOL.

So all that to say you would think I would have learned my lesson and give up on feeding those pesky, yet super adorable little friends...NOPE! I really wanted to try and feed them again this year. I thought Saffryn would like to watch them eat. So I thought about it and realized I just need to find a container to put the bird seed in and keep it ouside or in the garage again. Then I realized this would be a perfect sensory activity for Saffryn!!!! We went outside onto our deck with the special tools (shovel, rake, bucket and strainer) we just got from Oma and Opa! They were perfect for the job! It was so great doing it outside because I figured it was going to get messy and we could use nature to help clean up and save me the trouble...yay! So she helped me fill up the bird feeder! Here are the pictures:

Our feeder, bird seed and shovel...time to get started!!! :)

Saffryn "working" in the bird seed!

She wanted to sit on my lap for most of it..haha! But she really liked this new "job"

Fill up the feeder for the birds!

Concentrating very hard on her new job!

Momma and baby....She is just too busy to pose for a picture though...

Filling up the feeder and getting bird seed everywhere...its a hard job!

So much fun!

My busy girl!

The aftermath...so glad it was outside so I didn't have to clean it up!

We finished! Enjoy sweet little birds :)

check-up

I am almost 36 weeks pregnant...woohoo! getting so close! I had a Dr. apt today. They did the usual weight check and luckily my weight gain has slowed down significantly...phew! I have gained altogether 29lbs. Not too bad considering I gained over 40 with Saffryn LOL!!!! My urine and blood pressure looked fine also. then today she checked me for group b strep and to see if I have started dialating at all. I wasn't expecting too much because I didn't dialate very much with Saffryn before getting induced. I didn't think I was showing too many signs of anything going on but alas I was dialated to a 2 and 50% effaced!!!! YIPEE!!!!

My Dr. said I may actually go into labor on my own this time around since I am already starting to dialate. Now I know someone is thinking, "Don't get your hopes up you may just stay at a 2 or 3 for weeks without going into labor." and don't worry I am very aware of that and am not counting on anything, but I am super excited because like I said I hardley made any progress with Saffryn before getting induced!

She checked his heart rate and it was in the 140's and of course is still measuring a week and a half ahead. She warned me not to buy too many newborn outfits because she just doesn't think he will fit into them...uh oh!!! lol!!! but he is definitely head down and everything is looking good!

We have scheduled an induction for May 9th if he doesn't come on his own by then. I am praying hard that he does!!!! I have a feeling the next few weeks will be filled with finishing up my lists and LOTS of walking!!!! It is almost time to meet this guy!

26th Birthday

Happy happy birthday to me!!! LOL well a couple of days ago and I turned the ripe old age of 26. I had a really fun birthday. I got so many special treats! Some where edible and made with love others where thoughtful and found at a store...but all made my day! I got so many calls, texts and facebook notes. I had breakfast and lunch brought to me! Dan took me out on dinner date without Saffryn and we had a great time. We ate a lot, talked a lot and went on a little walk! All in all it was a fun day. I was kind of hoping for a birthday buddy considering I know 3 people who are due any second (and I am due in a few weeks and wouldn't have minded if he came a little early..teehee) but alas no special buddies this year ;) Here are a few pictures of my tummy at 35 and halfish weeks getting ready to go out and one of our little family of 3! Special shout out to Papa and Gigi for watching Saffryn for us. You know what the best part is though...I am still getting messages, cards and treats! YAY...its like a birthday week not day. Thanks everyone! :)

The Beach and Dallas

Our last few days of vacation! Caution lots of pictures :)

The last day of training Dan only had to work a half day! I decided that we would pick him up from his training and drive down to the beach at Galveston! Since we don't get to see the ocean that much I thought it would be worth the couple hour drive down there.

We honestly only had an ok time there. I think the family member who enjoyed it the most was Crash! LOL. I wasn't feeling very good so that put me in a not super playful mood, Saffryn was afraid of the waves and I think Dan was itching to get on the road and make our 4-5 hour drive to Dallas. There were also a lot of jellyfish on the beach which made us have to watch all of our steps. I am glad we went, but I can honestly say it wasn't my favorite part of the trip. Here are a few pictures of our afternoon.

Cheese!

Saffryn and Daddy at the beach!

Saffryn saying, "whoa" to the waves! LOL P.S we get so spoiled by the beach in South Carolina that this one with all that crap all over it didn't seem nearly as fun...yup I am now a beach snob! LOL!!!!!

Momma and baby at the beach!

She was afraid of the waves but liked the sand. In fact she covered herself in it! haha

Crash loves the beach! He is so brave and will even go into the waves!

Playing together!
After a couple of hours we loaded back into the car and drove to Dallas to spend the weekend with Dan's brother and sister-in-law! SO SO SO glad we did! We had a blast with them!!! We arrived late Friday night and just spent a little time catching up and letting Saffryn unwind! Saturday we woke up had breakfast (cinnamon rolls...yummy) and got ready for the day. Then Mike and Meredith spoiled us and took us to the Dallas Aquarium. That place was SO COOL! Here are some pictures of that:

Watching the penguins :)

So you start at the top of the jungle and see the canopy...birds, monkeys waterfalls, etc... Then you slowly walk down and see different animals until you get to the bottom and then its like you are at the rivers and see water life...even a shark tank! So cool!

Saffryn loved looking at all the sights!!! So much to see and do!

Saffryn looking at all the animals!

Huge turtle!

Looking at the exhibits with Auntie Meredith!!!

Looking at the fish with Daddy
This place was a blast! So much to see and do! Saffryn also learned a new word there...whoagi (pronounced whoa gee). We could not figure out what she wanted! She kept walking around saying a "whoagi a whoagi" We tried taking her to all the animals to figure out what it was...it turns out it was water! She liked the waterfall best of all! LOL.

After the aquarium Meredith took us to this awesome little hideaway for a picnic lunch!!! It was a courtyard between a ton of buildings! It even came with classical music playing in the background. Meredith made us this amazing picnic lunch and we just relaxed and let Saffryn run wild! It was awesome!

It looked like something straight out of a Jane Austin novel...LOVED IT!

You can see it is hidden between some buildings. Beautiful!
After lunch we went back and Saffryn and I took a much needed nap. Meredith took Crash on a much needed walk (such a sweet Dog Auntie) and Dan and Mike went on a much needed guys outing (looking at gun stuff). After that we ordered pizza and went out for ice cream!!! They totally spoiled us!!! Sunday morning we went to breakfast and met some good friends who now live in Dallas. It was great catching up with them!!! Then after that we made the 5-6 hour drive home. And arrived to it S-N-O-W-I-N-G.... yuck!!!! LOL.

We had such a great family vacation! It was so special getting to spend so much quality time with my princess before Jr arrives. We had so many adventures and saw so many people we care about. I think we will remember this trip for a long time! I know I will. :)
