Biggest Splash

There is a stream behind my in laws house. The kids love throwing rocks into it and collecting sticks to go fishing in the stream. The other morning the boys were getting rocks and throwing them in to see  who could get the biggest splash. Without warning Colt got too close lost his balance and fell in. The stream is a couple of feet deep and he went completely under. I ran over to him and he popped up and climbed out all on his own! I was so proud of him. It was chilly outside and the water was cold. Poor baby. And like any good mother I snapped a quick picture before caring for him.
We got inside and into a warm bath and we talked about the experience. After discussing why it's important to be careful and not get too close he gets quiet. Then, he says in a very serious voice, "I was the biggest splash."

Haha. Yes. Yes you were. But let's not do that again!

Fall Fun

Here are some pictures of us enjoying some fall weather and activities!

I loved how grey the clouds were and how much it contrasted with the bright blue sky!
So much fun exploring the leaves and lake!

Helping Aunt Meredith make a big pile of leaves...
To jump in!
So fun watching them! He warmed up after a minute and jumped in, too!
It looked like fun so I had to try it too.
That escalated quickly
Haha!

Happy Fall!!!

Spoken Gems

While we were outside Saffryn came up to me all excited and said: "Mom, wouldn't it be fun if we were sisters? What if we were sisters and fairies were real. Then we could catch one together and ask our parents for a jar. Then we would be all like 'oh how cute we got fairies in a jar!"

-----------------

After playing the Kinect with the kids for a bit:
Me: "Why is it so hot down here? Is it just me?"
S: "You did too much mom. You have old bones."

-----------------

Pierce was looking at Saffryn's jewelry box and brought this necklace to me: "Is this your necklace mom?"
Me: "No, it's Saffryns."
Colt: "You too old for it???"

-----------------

We were talking about how to be uplifting and build others up. We spent a few minutes sharing what we liked about each other. Then, Pierce says: "I know something I like about myself." Dan and I were so excited. That is so great! I was so eager to hear what he had to say and see his self esteem be built up. So we say, "what?"
Pierce completely serious, "I really like these sharp teeth" points to his incisors "Because I can kill bad guys with them."
Uhhhh. Okay.

-------------------

While listening to the radio a song comes on and Colt asks: "Is this The Beatles or just regular people?"
Regular people. Who can be bothered with them?!?! Hahaha!!!!

------------------

Pierce got a tramp stuffed animal (from Lady and The Tramp).
Us, "Wow that's a great gift!"
Pierce, "Yea and I know what I'm going to name him! Bit&#!!!"
Dan and I are both laughing and caught off guard, "what???"
Pierce hesitantly now, "Bit$#"
Us: "What? Where did you learn that name?"
Pierce confused, "It's what they call him in the movie."
Huh?!??
Us: "Oh do you mean Pidge? I think they call lady Pidge. But that was a nickname for the girl dog."
Pierce so relieved, "Ya! But I still like the name for him. I will call him Pitch!"
Well, Pitch is better than the alternative! Haha

Hilarious kids!

New Chapter

The car is packed
The house is empty
We have said our goodbyes and now we are gently turning the page and ending this chapter of our lives.

We are now on to a new chapter. Not an old one revisited but a new one. We aren't just going back but we are starting new in a place we love with people we care about and already have relationships with.

We have turned the page to our new chapter.

Notebook

Earlier this fall when all the school supplies were out in the stores I got each of the kids a Star Wars notebook. I figured we could find some use for them. I mean they are Star Wars and that's a thing around here.
This is Pierce's notebook.

Pierce loves having his own notebook. From the moment we brought it home he grabbed it and started spending a lot of time drawing in it. One day I needed some paper so I grabbed his notebook. As I turned through it I found page after page of these unique and super intentional drawings. It made my heart so happy.

I love how they are all different. I love how he chooses to draw in a notebook over almost anything else. I love how each picture has its own story in his mind. These aren't just random markings but stories and adventures that he takes. He blows me away!

And just for fun some other pictures he has been working on.

I just love him!

Halloween

Happy Halloween! Max was batman, Saffryn was Ahsoka Tano from Star Wars (clone wars cartoon series), Pierce was Darth Vador and Colt was Captian America!
Hahah. I love Darths pose in this one
Don't mess with a padawan
Give me some candy...it is your destiny
I'll be honest...I'm pretty proud of the makeup job I did! But more importantly Saffryn was impressed and loved it!
And we're off!
Max thought the pumpkins were to pick up acorns. Haha!
Colt is so social! He would stop mid trick or treating to talk to everyone around us! So many people so many things to say to them!!!
Mr. Big stuff having a blast!
Work it girl
It's hard to tell but this boy was in serious character. He never ran, just walked with authority. Hilarious!
We trick or treated down our street and the little boys were done and we needed to start passing out candy so we went back home. Colt and Max helped me while S and P went another few blocks with daddy! Colt was so charming as he passed out candy! He was saying the most hilarious things and made everyone's night! He can sure brighten a space!
Cheese. Haha

Caught this boy with an opened lolli and on top of the table scoping out more candy! Lol!

Happy Halloween!
