Gampa Gampa

My dad came into town this weekend...and we had a blast!!! Saffryn warmed up to him almost instantly! Instead of calling him Grandpa Darren she kept saying, "Gampa Gampa." My dad was such a great sport! He is a great Gampa Gampa! We dropped him off at the airport today and as he walked off Saffryn said, "Gampa Gampa comin back?" We already miss you Dad and are looking forward to your next visit! Here is some pictures of our weekend:

LOTS OF PLAYING:
He was such a good sport and spent so much time in this doll house with her. He even taught her how to knock on the door! She is getting so good at pretending!

Naps

It is supposed to be nap time...and look who is awake! Saffryn is actually fast asleep (which is rare these days) so Pierce has decided to take her place!!! LOL. And that right there is why two can be harder than one. My kids just love to tag team me!!!!

At least I get to enjoy a few minutes of alone time with this cute, sweet baby boy! Look how strong he is getting! He is getting very close to getting up on all 4's! He is also scooting (spelling???) backwards. It won't be long before he is crawling...then I will be in some serious trouble ;-)

Family Pumpkin Patch

So Saffryn, Pierce and I have been to 3...thats right 3 pumpkin patches so far this year. LOL! I didn't mean to go to so many it just kind of happened. This post is about the last pumpkin patch we went to as our family of 4. Dan hadn't gotten to see the kids enjoy the pumpkin patch so we decided to go as a family. We had a fun time! Here are some pictures.

What a big boy he is! Can you believe it???

Riding the cool horse tire swing.

Going down the slide together! They went down it together lots of times

Cutie baby!

I love this picture of us!

Daddy and Saffryn

She never sleeps on the couch with all of us still awake. But a busy afternoon at the pumpkin patch coupled with a refusal to take a nap and down she went!

Being Real

So I am hesitant to share this story because of course I want everyone to think I am a great mom that never makes mistakes....but I want to be real. I of course make mistakes...some worse than others. Sometimes things happen that I don't see coming. It sucks to admit and it is scary to dwell on the what ifs...anyway here is my afternoon:

While Pierce was sleeping this afternoon I let Saffryn play outside on our balcony...which she has done countless times! I had the door open and was sitting on the couch right outside the door filling out my bible study for my study this evening.

I was watching her play. She had some cheap metal keys from our file cabinet and was just walking around playing with them and a bucket of water and paint brushes. I let my eyes fall back into the study and suddenly I hear a loud scream and she runs into the house screaming and crying. I thought maybe a bug had bit her or something because she was rubbing her hand and was very scared.

After calming her down and consoling her I had her take me outside to see what happened....and low and behold those stupid keys were in the outside socket. She had opened the cover and found a perfect slot to put her key. I feel HORRIBLE!!!

I of course checked her really well...and we got lucky. She is perfectly fine...a little bit of black on her hands that washed off. Then I called Dan and asked what to do with the keys that were still in the outlet. He told me to find something wooden because that is a nonconductor item so it wouldn't shock me. I got some wooden tongs and pulled it out. It was melted and all charred....oh my goodness.

I took a look at her bunny and found that a piece of his ear that she was obviously holding got singed...SCARY! Oh the things that could have happened.

So needless to say we had a long conversation about getting shocked (she pronounces it socked) and to never ever ever put anything in the outlets. She walked around all afternoon and evening telling me she got shocked and it. broke. my. heart.  She also kept telling me, "never ever ever." Well at least she got part of it.

So scary. I feel horrible. Thank you God for keeping her safe and protecting her in spite of my negligence.

So this is me being real.

Sad and Funny

This video is sad and funny. We are bad parents to take video of this...just go ahead and say it! Then laugh :)

Tulsa

The kids and I just got back from a long weekend in Tulsa! We went with one of my best friends Erin. Erin and I met in college (we had the same major, Early Childhood Education...whoop whoop). We stayed in touch after college and now that we live in the same city have become closer than ever! She has 2 children around the same age as my two children. Saffryn just loves her kids and we spend a lot of time together. Why Tulsa you ask? Her parents live there and that made it a fun and affordable mini vacation for us!

We left Wednesday evening after supper and the kids slept basically the whole time. That was great because it gave Erin and I a chance to talk un-interrupted! Aahh the small luxuries in life!!!

A picture of the kids in the car. Saffryn and Liam in the back and the babies Pierce and Isabel in the middle. You can see the baby's little feet...so cute!

Thursday we woke up and went to a huge park! Saffryn loved getting to run around and play with Liam. We went to Sonic afterward and got some "special drinks" and came home for lunch and naps. After nap time we just relaxed outside and had fun together!

The babies all bundled up and watching the big kids play on the playground. Love them!!!!

Saffryn and Liam pretending to drive the jeep. hahah

Friday we went to a pumpkin patch. It was super fun...and free...which makes it more fun! We had lunch there and came home for naps. In the afternoon we once again just relaxed at home and played played played!

such cute kids!

"Cheese"

He is a lovey!

Trying to pick up the big pumpkins. LOL

Watching the pony rides

Saffryn feeding the goats!

She even got to pet it.

Pierce was watching the animals, too.

Saturday we got a babysitter so Erin and I could go to lunch. What a treat! We went to an Irish restaurant called Kilkenny's and it was AMAZING! I am glad we don't have that restaurant because I would be eating there a lot. I mean like ALOT! After an adventurous ride home (I missed a turn...oops) we got home. The kids were kind of cranky and super tired. So we packed up, ate some dinner and hit the road.

The first hour of the drive was pretty rocky! We drove smack dap in the middle of a NASTY storm and our tired kids were in the back screaming/crying. But eventually the rain died down and everyone fell asleep! We got to have another couple of hours of talk time (which I LOVED).

It was such a great weekend. I can't say that there were no tantrums/meltdowns/frustrations because that would be a lie. But traveling with toddlers and babies there will ALWAYS be those moments. But it was also filled with some really fun memories and quality time that make those moments so beyond worth it.

The picture of our group together!

Thanks to Erin for inviting us along. Thanks to her parents and brother who were SO patient with my children. They were amazing hosts and showered my little family with love and attention! THANK YOU!
