From Head to Toe

My dear darling Pierce,

I love you from the top of your dirty blond hair that you love to style different ways to be expressive
Down to your thoughts and feelings that you reserve and keep secretly locked away until you are ready to share
I love you from your bright blue eyes
Down to your slightly upturned nose (you got from me) that is covered with freckles (from your dad)
I love you from your smile that lights up a room
Down to your heart so full of love and tenderness. You are always the first one Max looks for when away from mommy because he trusts you so much

love you from your body that still longs to be close to your loveys and brings them everywhere

Down to your hands that create such profound and inspiring pieces of art

I love you from your skin that is so very sensitive and fair

Down to your feet. Feet that are growing bigger and bigger by the day and remind me that you will not always be this small, but someday you will be a big, tall grown up man!

I love how much you enjoy space. I love that you have a favorite planet. I love that you are so nurturing and enjoy babies of every kind of animal. I love how confident you are and how much you just own what you like. I love that I can still get you to take naps. I love that you are a deep thinker and feeler like your dad.

Son, you are truly something special.

Love,
Mom

From Head to Toe

My sweet, sweet Saffryn,

I love you from the top of your sun streaked hair
That has caused you so much grief but we are learning together how to tame it
Down to your thoughtful deep blue eyes that never seem to miss anything

I love you from your dainty nose down to your soft pink lips. You have such a lovely, feminine face

I love you from your teeth that have already had several trips to the dentist and orthodontist
Down to your skin that catches and holds summer sun
I love you from your heart that has so much compassion for animals and people
Down to your hands that still hold special bunny so tight
But recently made some new friends, too
I love you from your long athletic legs that help your run so fast
Down to your feet that help you jump so high and swim so well

I love that you are so eager to help me. I love that you hate being by yourself (a trait you inherited from me). I love that you are my only girl. I love that you are equal parts girly and tomboy. I love that you are a rule follower. I love that you like to be proper.

Your name means: a rare and precious spice. And truly that's what you are to us: rare and precious with just enough spice to keep things interesting.

You my dear are one of a kind!

Love,
Mom

From Head to Toe

My dearest Max,

I love you from the top of your golden hair. It sometimes still has hints of red in it and can be so unruly
To your baby blue eyes
I love you from your tiny nose sprinkled with freckles
To your mouth that can be so sweet and charming
And yet throw some epic tantrums
I love you from your body that still loves to be held
To your tiny hands that are always busy building your favorite thing, "rocket boosters"
And has the most adorable little freckle

I love you from your tummy that now sports a faint scar. A scar that nearly broke my heart into a thousand pieces
Down to your tiny feet. Feet that are so eager to catch up to the big kids. Feet that never miss an opportunity to jump, run and climb
And yet still so tiny.

Max I love how you live up to your name. I love how much passion and fire you have. I love how you never settle. I love you from the top of your head down to your littlest toe!

You my dear are one of a kind.

Love,
Mom

Sibling love

I found this note by Pierce's toys today. A card to Pierce from Saffryn. I had no idea she had done this which makes it all the sweeter!

I will translate:
"I love you and I hope you have a good night. I hope we get to sit together on the school bus"

My heart is so full!!!

Story Time

Pierce had to draw a picture and make a story for one of our school days.
I love these days. Their stories always make me laugh so much! In case you can't read the words here is the story:

Pierce drove to the Grand Canyon. Then he stood on it. Then he got too close to the edge. And then he fell off the edge, but he grabbed ahold of some rock. Then a piece of his camera fell off in the river. There was a big explosion in the river. Then he climbed back up.

Rock Wall

We were invited to an indoor wall climbing event today by some of our friends. We thought we would go ahead and give it a try. Why not?!?!

When we got there we realized you had to be 4 and up to climb using the ropes. Poor Colt. He is SO close to being able to do these things. Thankfully they had a small toddler wall that he could climb.
Which he did in about 5 seconds! Ha
They also had a free form Boulder wall that the kids could try and climb. It's shorter and no use of ropes.
We will need to come back when he is 4! He was SO eager to climb the big wall. He did so great and was so patient as the other kids got to climb the big wall!
Saffryn and Pierce in their gear!
Seriously adorable!!!!
They didn't know what to think at first but very quickly they got the hang of it and went higher and higher!
Look at her go! She was a little more hesitant than Pierce was. He was so determined and wanted to push himself to keep going higher!

That was the highest he made it! Wow!!!

Max was in the baby carrier most of the time ;)

Dan and I kept thinking that we need to get a sitter and try it ourselves. It looked so fun! The kids did so well! They ALL loved it! When Colt turns 4 we are coming back for him to get a turn!

We decided to reward Colt and Max for being so patient while the big kids got to climb. So we all went out for icecream afterward!
Hahah! Such a mess.

What an adventurous day!
