15 Months

This post is a tad late...please forgive me. But here is Saffryn's 15 month post. I figure she isn't changing as fast now so I don't need to do it monthly so instead I am doing some of the bigger milestones and 15 months sounds like a big one to me....plus she had a doctor's apt so I know her stats :)

STATS: Weight: 22lbs 14 oz. 50%  Height: 90%. So tall!!! (Can't remember the actual numbers I will try to look them up tomorrow). She is wearing size 18 months clothes and size 5 shoe. She will wear a hair bow in her hair for about 2-5 mintues while we say, "So pretty". Then promptly takes it out! And size 3 diapers :)

LANGUAGE:  She has been jabbering almost non-stop recently! She uses a lot of words, but she is trying to talk to us in sentences but doesn't have the words so she just jabbers! It is so cute!!! It is also so exciting because her desire to talk is so apparent! Some of the new words she has picked up: cereal, open (sounds like uppy), Liam (one of her best friends), Avery (another one of her good friends), baby, cat, go, ball (I think she has had this one for awhile, but I don't know if I have recorded it). Several other words but I can't recall them all right now. One thing she has been doing though is saying, "I poopy" and I check her and sure enough...she IS!!! So proud of her!!!!! She loves to talk almost...ALMOST as much as I do! LOVE HER!!!!

CONCEPTS:  She is really starting to be able to recall things that have happened earlier in the day. It is SO neat and is separating her very significantly from her furry brother...hahah! For example: she has been going into the laundry room and playing with Crash's water. This is one of the few rules that she just has a hard time obeying. She is a huge rule follower. Anyway I walk in and see that she has tipped his bowl over and I say, "OH NO. This is not your water. This water is for Crash. IT IS NOT FOR YOU." A little while later while playing in the living room Saffryn looks at me and says: "oh no....gibberish". I said that's right, "oh no. Not for you." And she says, "Crash". I said, "Yes its Crash's" Then she said, "Water". SO COOL!!!! She knew exactly what had happened and we talked about it over and over and over. LOL.

FAVORITES: Some of her favorite things are:
1:BALLS! She loves to play with balls. She actually got a Red Sox baseball book for Christmas (thanks Aunt Chrissy) and she LOVES to read this book and look for all the "bay balls".
2: BABIES! She is so obsessed with them. If there is a baby in the room that is all she will talk about! She even knows where her baby brother is! If we ask her where he is she comes and touches my tummy. So smart!
3: DOGS! Same old thing with this. Just loves all dogs especially Crash.
4: JUNGLE BOOK! Yup the Disney movie. She loves talking about baby Mowgli, cats and dogs (wolves). She dances to the songs and will watch a lot of the movie. (We have tried other movies but none have had the same effect as this one).
5: DANCING!!! She has a serious love for music and dancing! She asks for it all the time especially at Papa and Gigi's house!!!

DISLIKES: Just normal toddler stuff...being told, "NO". Not getting what she has in mind. Wanting so desperately to be independent but not physically capable of doing everything herself yet.

OVERALL: She is such a sweet, sweet baby! She has really been into hugs and kisses recently and will do it on her own. It is so heart melting!!! She is good buddies with her Daddy and Crash. She loves her friends and is starting to really play with them. She cannot live without "special bunny" and calls him "bubbie". We are so crazy about her and think she is the best blessing from God!

Well that's all I can think of for now! P.S this is a special shirt from her Aunt Abbie! It says: "Somebody at University of Texas Loves Me". Thanks for such a fun shirt! We all LOVE it!!!

28 weeks

Well I don't necessarily plan on doing a weekly update on my pregnancy but since I had a Dr. apt today I figured now is a good chance!

So my wonderful doctor got called on an ob delivery while I was waiting my turn to see her, so instead of rescheduling I just saw one of her partners. They weighed me and I gained 9 lbs in 4 weeks...yikes again! I seriously asked the nurse..."Am I gaining too much weight????" She said, "Nope. You only gained 2 lbs in your first trimester so you are just gaining weight now. Overall you have only gained 20 lbs. So don't worry too much about it right now." SHEESH!!!! Moving on.

They took my blood for my glucose test today. I'll get the results back for that soon. I meet with the Dr. and she said, "you are measuring a little big" I told her the baby looked big from my sono last week. So she pulled up the sono results and talked with me about it. First things first....his little foot looks FINE!!! They didn't see any abnormalities this time. Praise the LORD!!! I am so thankful for that! She said that is his measuring bigger than the 95%. HOLY COW! He is a BIG boy. That could mean one of three things: 1. We caught him at a growth spurt and he will slow down on his own. 2. There is something going on with me that could make him bigger...think gestational diabetes, etc....We will get the results from the blood work soon. And lastly option 3: He is just a big boy!!!! HMMM....Now we just wait! I have another apt in 2 weeks and once again should hopefully know more then. :)

Here are a couple of pictures from 28 weeks. They aren't my favorite...but they do the job!

Don't worry I haven't forgotten about Saffryn. I know I haven't blogged about her in a few weeks but I have a couple up my sleeve! :)

27 weeks

Hello 3rd trimester and goodbye 2nd trimester! I think the 3rd trimester is so funny because it is literally the best and worst of pregnancy. The worst because you are HUGE...or at least I am! My body is sore. I am getting terrible sleep and don't forget the constant heartburn. BUT the fun parts...finishing the nursery, packing the bags to go to the hospital, feeling the baby move, seeing the baby move and feeling hiccups! My skin and hair seem to be doing nicely (added perk). Don't forget...MEETING YOUR BABY!!!!! ahhhh so excited. 13ish more weeks!!! Woohoo!!!

We had our sonogram yesterday. They didn't tell us too much yet. I have doctor's apt next week and we will go over everything there. The sonographer said that looking at the report she didn't even think it was bad enough to be considered club foot...so that is a MAJOR relief. He is head down now, also a relief. HOWEVER he is measuring really really big right now. They thought he weighed 3lbs 3oz. That is several weeks ahead of schedule...uh oh! Can't wait to hear what the Dr. thinks about that!!!

Whelp that's all I know for now. Enjoy a few sono pics and my 27 week tummy pictures. I will update more next week after I talk to my doctor!

 27 Weeks!

Don't you love Saffryn in some of these pictures...hehe! Also I know its so hard to tell in the sonogram pictures but I really think he looked a lot like Saffryn did in her sono pics!!!

Saffryn at 34 weeks

Jr. at 27 weeks.

Is it just me or is there some resemblance??? Can't wait to find out for sure!!!

G-R-O-S-S

Yesterday a very nasty thing happened. Something I was so hoping to avoid. I know a lot (if not all) parents experience some form of this at one point in time, but like I said I did not want to experience it. Ok enough of the cliff hanger...here is the story:

First little back story... Saffryn has taken the habit of putting her hands in her diaper recently. I have tried to stay on top of the behavior by keeping clothes on her and not leaving her in just a diaper...easy access.

Anyway the other day after snack time (it was a messy one) I left her in her diaper because I busy and a little preoccupied. I thought I smelled a dirty diaper so I said to Saffryn, "Ok let's change your diaper." I looked up as I was saying this and....

HANDS IN THE DIAPER!!!!

HANDS OUT OF THE DIAPER!!!!

POOP!!!

ALL OVER HER HANDS!!!

OMGOSH!!!!!

I tried not to panic...Ok lets be honest...I PANICKED!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I tried to finish what I was doing...but before my hands where completely free she reached her hands toward her mouth....

"N-O-O-O-O-O-O"

Saffryn looked up surprised but then tried to put her hands back in her mouth..I'm sure she was thinking "What an interesting response....should I try it again?"

"N-O-O-O-O-O"

Uh.oh....mommy is yelling at me.

LOTS OF TEARS!!!!!

I want a hug mommy...

"N-O-O-O-O STAY WHERE YOU ARE...DON'T TOUCH ANYTHING"

LOTS OF TEARS!!!!!

Ok by this point my hands are free and I am able to pick her up...very carefully and go change her and clean her up. We scrub the face and hands and put some clothes on and she is good to go. The tears stopped after a bit and playing resumed like nothing ever happened. The only person traumatized by the experience????

ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

LOL. But really please tell me you have had some sort of experience along these lines? My child surely isn't the only one who was curious about the smelly stuff in her diaper??? What a day!

The World's Largest Snow Cone

We (like the rest of America) have gotten a good amount of snow this week! Saffryn really enjoys the snow, but it has been REALLY cold. Way too cold to go play in the snow. I had seen some of my friends' blogging about bringing the snow inside to their children to play. What a good idea! Thinking about it some more Dan and I decided to take it a step further....

I had a feeling that Saffryn would want to eat the snow, so why not add flavoring to make it a little more colorful, fun and delicious :) So all three (four) of us went out on an adventure to the store to find some snow cone syrup. Well apparently that is a seasonal item (people don't want to eat snow cones in the winter...weird...hahha)...shoot! Now what? Well the lady at the store gave us the idea to make our own! So that's what we did!

We mixed Karo Syrup, water and a little bit of Jell-O together. Orange, Lemon and Raspberry...YUM!!!! Dan filled a big tub of snow for us to explore!

Saffryn "helped" me mix the syrups together so she was NOT interested in the snow....she was very very interested in the syrups! So lets get right to the chase and start drizzling our flavors on the snow!

We showed Saffryn what to do and she wanted to try!

"My turn Dad!"

Get the spoon and dip it in the syrup....then drizzle on the snow!

OOOPS!!!! Right into the mouth. hahaha. Ok so the drizzling is left to Dan and myself...

Isn't it pretty!!! Ok now time to explore the "World's Largest Snow Cone"...yay!

YUMMY!

Yes that is me eating with her...I told you it was yummy...haha!
She is COVERED in sticky sticky syrup
 Such a good little explorer!
Hmm...should I put my foot in it? She never did!
What a cutie! LOVE that face!!!!
Of course Crash had to be a part of the adventure, too! He also liked it!

Hope everyone had as much fun with the snow as we did!

Markers

Alright, time for our marker experience! She first tried them out when Gigi was over this weekend. She learned VERY quickly how to open the lids! So our rule is markers MUST stay at the table in her room. I really don't want or need any extra "decorations" around the house...hehe!

She is really fascinated with opening them and closing them. She has even learned the word "open". It sounds more like uppy...but hey that's pretty close :)

She actually uses them to color, too! I think since the color shows up so much better than crayons, and is easier to make the marks on the paper it is more fun for her to color with them.

Enjoy the pictures of our budding little artist!

What a cutie!!!
Trying to open and close the markers!
Its hard work!
Concentrating :)
I know you were wondering what Crash was doing while we were creating works of art....chewing on his bone right next to us!
HEHE!
She was in a pink and green mood. That's the only colors she chose to use! A girl after my own heart :)
I forgot to mention another rule we have....Markers are not for your mouth. If they go in your mouth you will be all done. Well after two warnings she decided to put the markers in her mouth again and forced me to follow through! I couldn't resist a picture of this though...LOL!!!!
HAHAH!!!!Her hands after the project...heheh!
We had a special request for a picture when she started using markers...so here you go Grandma McFarlane :) It will be in the mail for your fridge today!!!!
