A first for Saffryn

One of my good friends has a BIG love for horses. She has her own beautiful horse and it is such a big part of her life. When she invited us out to the stable to meet her sweet girl I was excited to not only show the kids (they have never actually interacted with horses) but see my friend in her element. I decided to only bring Saffryn and Pierce and left the little boys to stay home and take a nap with daddy.

When we got there my friend Carol got the horse out of the stall and the kids got to learn how to feed her treats. They also got to brush her and watch Carol pick mud out of her hooves.
Of course my kiddos found the barn kitty.
After Diva (the horse) was ready to go we took her to the arena and learned how to walk safely around horses. Then we sat down and watched Carol ride her. Diva was being really calm and cooperative so Carol offered a ride if the kids were interested. Pierce said no thank you. He was very scared and standoffish. Saffryn eagerly jumped at the chance!
She got her little helmet on and was ready to go!

Carol and Diva were so patient and encouraging. Saffryn fell in love! She was such a natural on Diva. I have never seen that girl look more graceful and beautiful than when she was riding. I was blown away. She even got to trot for 10-15 seconds. Her balance was amazing. She didn't want to be done!
But all good things must come to an end. We had to all get drinks and help the horse cool off. The kids got to see not only the fun parts but the work parts of a horse too! They take a lot of care!!!
Just so you could see what a good sport Carol and Diva were. It was so HOT!

When we got home Saffryn could not stop talking about Diva and Carol. She asked if she could color and made these pictures:
This was Saffryn brushing Diva
This was Saffryn riding Diva.

I will be so curious to see if this is just a novelty or if I have opened the most giant can of worms!!!

Either way it was a fun day with a dear friend. Thanks for everything sweet Carol!!!
