8 Months

July 12, 2010= Saffryn turning 8 months old!!! She is so much fun! She continues to skyrocket in development and achieving milestones! Some of her accomplishments this month are:

Pulling up on EVERYTHING!

Very very very interested in books! Her favorite book is "Puppy Love"...thank you Cousin Kevin!

She has a tooth!

She can feed herself! She loves to eat puffs, cherios, bananas and other soft foods. This makes such a difference for our meal times. Dan and I can actually eat together now! WOO HOO!!!

She responds to her name :)

She LOVES bathtime and swimming!

She is still as serious and thoughtful as ever!

Loves crawling around exploring the entire house (so glad to have that baby gate up now)!

Her favorite spot in the house: Well naturally it's Crash's food and water bowls!

Loves singing songs! Some of her favorite are: I've been working on the railroad, Bingo, The K-State fight song and the special song from her Papa.

Thats all I can think of right now! Here are some pictures of her at 8 months. She is so much fun and I LOVE staying at home with her and getting to experience all these milestones together! I always remind her that her momma is her best friend...LOL!

The DTS Weekend

So Dan and I decided that we needed a weekend for just the three of us..Dan, Tylie and Saffryn (DTS). The last several weeks have been exhausting, physically, emotionally and just plain busy (see previous post for more details). So this weekend we decided to make no commitments and just spend time with each other. IT WAS WONODERFUL!!!!


Friday: After telling a girlfriend about this plan she and her husband offered to watch Saffryn for us so we could have the evening to ourselves! What great friends. Then they called back later and said, "actually can she just stay the night"....eeek! Was I ready for that...yes I was. Saffryn and my first night apart...ever. So we dropped her of at the McClures and went on our way. We ran at the Y, went to dinner and a movie: Knight and Day. It was a great evening and the movie was fun. THANK YOU McClures!

Saturday: Well I woke up at 5 and was thinking, "ok they will probably call me soon"...dozed on and off until 8. "hmm...is my phone not working?".....8:20 texted them..."is everything ok????" "yup just finished breakfast and is playing". WOW! She did so well. I was 95% happy! LOL ok so every mom wants their children to want and need them. So Dan and I ate breakfast by ourselves and relaxed (for a bit...I was starting to get antsy). We picked up Saffryn, went to lunch and then went swimming at Papa and Gigi's house. I so wish I would have brought my camera because Saffryn was lounging in her float like the Diva she is! So much fun! It was great to have the night to ourselves and it was shaping up to be a really fun and relaxing weekend.

Sunday: Woke up and went to the Zoo! Dan hasn't been to the zoo in forever and Saffryn hadn't been at all. What a fun day! Saffryn was interested in more of the animals than I thought she would be, but if they were not making noise or moving she didn't notice them. I think her favorite of the whole day were birds flying around in the South America part. I actually did remember to take my camera so here are some pictures of our fun fun fun day!

After a long day we were all hot and ready to go home

We had such a great weekend. It was so relaxing and we just enjoyed spending quality time together! Maybe we should do this more often... :)

Beauty dispite the sadness

Towards the end of May I thought June was going to be such a promising month. So much to look forward to and lots of exciting changes for us and for my friends. However June has brought a lot of hard unexpected things. There has also been some good things too...so I will just briefly outline our month.

End of May/Beginning of June: One of our relatives was diagnosed with Cancer. This will fall under the category of Sadness

Beginning of June: One of my closest friends found out some very hard news about her pregnancy: Sadness

Beginning of June: Saffryn started crawling...so much fun: Beauty!

Second week of June: Found out I was pregnant with our second child: Beauty!

Next week: I had a miscarriage: Sadness. (I am sorry for those of you finding out this way. It happened at a bad time and it is a hard thing to bring up when you didn't know I was pregnant in the first place. It was also just confirmed by my doctor).

Same week: A good friend of ours went to the emergency room and had emergency surgery. He was in ICU for a couple of weeks: Sadness

End of June: My sister got MARRIED!!!! It was such a wonderful wedding. She was a beautiful bride. I LOVED all of the family time and wished it didn't go by so quickly: Beauty!!!!!!!

End of June: Our friend got moved out of ICU and is starting the recovery process. This will be a slow and painful process. I would like to say beauty but it is still very hard for their family.

These are just a few of the big ones, several other hard things and good things happened in June. Not the best month for us by a long shot. We have been sad for us and for others, but somehow it is still okay. We and so many of the people who fall into the sadness category have been blessed by the support of friends and family. So what is the moral of the story??? That despite some of our sadness that God is still good. He is also completely in control even if it doesn't feel like it. He blesses us with family, friends, recovery and healing. He gives us life and we have so much to be thankful for. That despite our sadness and loss that there is still beauty to be found and life to live!

7 months

Saffryn is 7 months old!

Here are a few things she has been up to:

CRAWLING!!!

Sits up from the floor by herself

She has become interested in books

Babbles (all the time)

Watches our reactions to her and things around her

Still loves Crash

Loves sweet potatoes and squash

Hates apples

Loves putting stringy things in her mouth...crash's rope toys, hair, cords, threads...

Likes to play peek-a-boo

Jumps in her Johnny Jump Up and Exersaucer (instead of just hanging there..LOL)

Laughs and smiles when we laugh

Loves to be loved!!!!

Changes....so many!

This "episode" or blog post will be all about the changes going on:


Change 1: Saffryn is crawling!!! She is still a little jerky and wobbly but she gets where she wants to go. What fun!!! See video below :)

Change 2: I need to change my habits because of change #1. For example, this morning I left my open water bottle on the living room floor several feet away from Saffryn. I left the room to put some clothes away and came back less than a minute later to the bottle tipped over and Saffryn playing in the water that was everywhere!!!! OOPS :)

Change 3: Because of Change #1 and her overall coordination we had to lower her crib setting!

Change 4: We also had to put a baby gate up on the stairs because of Change #1...see a theme :)

Change 5: Saffryn is babbling using consonant sounds! She sounds like a completely new baby...so grown up!!!!

The weird thumping noise in the background is the roofers fixing our roof...also don't worry I immediatly removed the straw from her and have realized I may no longer keep that on floor level because she LOVES it and will find a way to get it! I hope you are all enjoying summer as much as we are!!

On the move...backwards!!!

So yesterday Dan and I celebrated 3 years of marraige! The time really goes fast. I am so thankful to have such a wonderful husband who takes care of all of us. He is such a loving and gentle man and I know Saffryn is going to grow up knowing what a man should look like and how he should treat her! I am so thankful that God has put us together!!!! We got to experience a baby free night (thanks to Papa, Gigi and Aunt Abbie) and go out on the town! We had a great time eating and talking. Happy 3 year Anniversary!!!!

Ok so moving on to what I am sure you want to read about...Saffryn (and who could blame you she is awfully cute...LOL)!!! She has officially started crawling...backwards! She sees a toy she wants to play with and she goes for it only ends up away from it...LOL! It is kind of funny and sad too. She is really trying hard and could not literally be any closer to crawling! She is also able to sit up by herself. I thought I was going crazy the other morning when I put her on her tummy and came back from the kitchen to her sitting up! But alas...I am not crazy I have seen her do it several times! I love the new independence her body is giving her! Soon she will be able to go where she wants and explore what she wants...yes I know I may not like where she goes...hah. But still I love to see what interests her!

We have experienced a new thing this week...bubbles! I have no idea if she liked them or not. She was completely stoned faced the whole time!!! She reached out for them and watched them but did not crack a smile or laugh one time!!! She is so funny! What a serious and thoughtful personality she has!! One small inch for baby one big smile for momma

Saffryn could not be any closer to crawling...in fact she made her first tiny...I mean tiny inch forward today! I know I should not be so excited...once she learns to move she wont stop...but it is so much fun! I recorded her today in 3 parts...why you might ask. Well really because uploading video takes forever and I am convinced the smaller the video the shorter time it takes to upload. So the 3 videos are taken all right after the other. I know I am weird..LOL. Crash of course makes an appeareance...heaven forbid he might miss something :) I hope you enjoy the video as much as I do! ps Saffryn is almost 27 weeks old.
