Birthday Bash

We finally celebrated Max's first birthday!!!
Those were actual matchbox cars. So fun! And Colt was sure they were his and would not rest until they were washed off and in his hands!

Eating a fancy dinner of mac n cheese and hot dogs! :)
Time for the cake...
Does he like it???
Oh yea he does!!!

Attempting to get all four kiddos!
Wow!!!

I was afraid he was going to get sick eating the whole smash cake! So we needed to take it away but I didn't want to be the bad guy so I made my mom do it. Lol!

He was so sad. He loved that cake!
After an impromptu bath he was ready to open his presents!
He got new shoes and thought he was Mr. big stuff. Lol!!!
Silly boy!

After presents we went outside and did bubbles while listening to music. Saffryn said it was the best party ever because it was a bubble dance party! I forgot to get picks during that part because I was blowing bubbles! But now you know how to have the best party...

Happy Birthday baby boy!!! In some ways I never thought we would make it to your first birthday. It has been a long, hard year. BUT we made it!!! You have taught me more about myself and God this year than my other 28 years combined! God knew I needed you in my life! You are awesome and I can't wait to see what this next year  brings to both of us!
Max Steven Mahoney, we love you!

Spoken gems

While eating jello for the first time (at least in a long time. For some reason I never think to get jello) Saffryn says in a super excited voice: "This is a soft as worms!!!"
Yum??? Lol!!!

-----------------------------------------

Colt has recently started talking for Max when we ask him a question. It is so funny because he uses a super high pitch voice. The first time I noticed it was when I made him apologize to Max for pushing him down.
Colt: "I'm sorry I pushed you. Do you
Forgive me?"
Colt in a super high pitched voice: "Ya I forgive you."
Colt looking at me with a straight face: "okay mom all better."

While at the park Dan and I asked Max if he wanted a turn to slide and I hear this high pitch tiny voice behind me say, "yea I do" there was Colt saying it with a straight face.

while in the car we say: "Max, do you like this song?" Colt answers in a super high voice, "I do. It kind."
Bahahah!!! Didn't know songs had that characteristic!!!

---------------------------------------

While grocery shopping Saffryn says, "mom, stores are kind of like a maze."
The guy next to me hears and starts laughing so much. It made me smile to have someone get a kick out of the kids

------------------------------------------

While eating lunch Colt got overly excited and threw his nugget on the ground
Dan: "hey! Don't do that."
Colt with a super grumpy face: "daddy I going to make my butt poop on you"

-----------------------------
The kids have been gathering Rollie pollies and snails from our yard and will put them in their buckets. Saffryn's snails kept crawling up the side of her bucket so she explained to me: "I have to give them spankings for trying to escape. But don't worry it was a gentle spanking. Just a little tap on their shell. Then I put them back their bed" aka the leaf she has put in the bucket.
Then later I told her to go and play and she told me in a very serious voice: "I can't play mom. I am taking care of my snail children."
Grrreat. Not weird at all. Ha!!!

Learning

Pierce has suddenly just experienced a big jump in his writing, drawing and letter development!!! He has become very interested in learning his letters and has just learned how to spell and write his name!

He was so interests and ready to learn so I got out some dry erase boards and he just took off!
He did so well! It seemed to come fairly easy to him!
After the dry erase boards we got out pens and paper and he wanted to work some more!

Well done son! This right here is why I am enjoying homeschooling! I love going at their pace and having lots of time to jump into something they are interested in. So proud of him!

Chocolate Makes Us Happy

We had Chocolate Chip Pancakes for breakfast this morning and we all loved it. Especially this boy:
In the words of his daddy, "chocolate. I like it."

Rainbow foam take two

We made rainbow foam again! This time I put it in the sensory tub!
I love how involved Max is our sensory times!!!
So fun!

The kids added trucks, mixed it all up, made a giant mess all over the floor and had a wonderful time! :)
