Vacation Part 3
We also visited my mom's parents: grandma and grandpa Gregersen!
Grandma and grandpa with the kids!
My grandpa showed the kids his garden and some of the property. They chased him on the bike. Lol! They loved it.
My grandparents have this giant rock pile near their house and the kids were so excited to go explore it!
Max enjoyed exploring around. Theme of his week. Wandering and exploring.
There was some nasty clouds and some loud thunder that echoed in the mountains...
And scared my little boy. He literally ran and hid in my legs. I thought it was so cute and just had to try and snap a picture!
Well we are winding down on the pictures however there are things not pictured: talking with aunts, uncles, grandparents and cousins. Playing rocket ball (the coolest made up game). Prairie dog hunting. Water balloons. Scrap books made by the kids. Yummy food. Lots of laughter.
Dan got a wild hair on the way home
And decided to go home in one day instead of breaking it up into two. Let's be honest it was LONG. The kids seriously did awesome though. We listened to this particular song probably 20 times. Take a guess as to what song this is....
Iron Man by Black Sabbath. Hahaha. It's like a lullaby for our kids. They could be screaming and we turn it on and they all get quiet and listen. Ya we are super weird.
Anyway as you can see it was a special week! We made lots of memories. We got to spend precious time with precious precious people. I miss them all so much already.
Thanks for a wonderful week. We love you all!
Vacation Part 2
Saffryn and Pierce got to try and use a beebee gun for the first time. And Saffryn was surprisingly good at it! She could aim
and hit targets by herself!
Grandma and Max
Cousins playing together.
Horny toad!!!! We saw a few horny toads (or perhaps the same one multiple times). The first time the boys were resting. The second time we saw one and called the boys over to where we were. Colt saw it run away and started chuckling and said, "he's fat." Hahaha. Compared to the lizards we see around our house he is! Silly boy.
My grandma let the kids draw on the hot rocks with crayons. They get all melty and make neat patterns. The kids thought that was so cool!
Saffryn had a first and visited a cemetery with grandpa Darren and Deana. She has been so interested in this subject and really wanted to go. She got to put flowers on my great grandmothers graves (and hold the umbrella). She thought both things were pretty cool. The kids with Grandpa Darren and Deana. It was so fun to have them come out and spend time with us while we were there!!!
Still more...
A first for Saffryn
One of my good friends has a BIG love for horses. She has her own beautiful horse and it is such a big part of her life. When she invited us out to the stable to meet her sweet girl I was excited to not only show the kids (they have never actually interacted with horses) but see my friend in her element. I decided to only bring Saffryn and Pierce and left the little boys to stay home and take a nap with daddy.
When we got there my friend Carol got the horse out of the stall and the kids got to learn how to feed her treats. They also got to brush her and watch Carol pick mud out of her hooves.
After Diva (the horse) was ready to go we took her to the arena and learned how to walk safely around horses. Then we sat down and watched Carol ride her. Diva was being really calm and cooperative so Carol offered a ride if the kids were interested. Pierce said no thank you. He was very scared and standoffish. Saffryn eagerly jumped at the chance!
She got her little helmet on and was ready to go!
Carol and Diva were so patient and encouraging. Saffryn fell in love! She was such a natural on Diva. I have never seen that girl look more graceful and beautiful than when she was riding. I was blown away. She even got to trot for 10-15 seconds. Her balance was amazing. She didn't want to be done!
But all good things must come to an end. We had to all get drinks and help the horse cool off. The kids got to see not only the fun parts but the work parts of a horse too! They take a lot of care!!!
When we got home Saffryn could not stop talking about Diva and Carol. She asked if she could color and made these pictures:
This was Saffryn brushing Diva
This was Saffryn riding Diva.
I will be so curious to see if this is just a novelty or if I have opened the most giant can of worms!!!
Either way it was a fun day with a dear friend. Thanks for everything sweet Carol!!!
