12 Weeks
I had my Dr. appt today. I have only gained one pound the last 5 weeks! Yay great start...lol. My blood pressure looks great and the heartbeat was in the 160's. My next appt is on April 5th and we will have our sonogram that day! I can't believe it. Sometimes I think is this really happening??? I just can't seem to wrap my brain around having a newborn in 6 months. Maybe that's why it is going so fast!
I have been feeling pretty good. I never really got any morning sickness this time (though i have been pretty lucky with all my pregnancies. Saffryn was the worst and it was manageable). I got hit with extreme fatigue around week 7/8. But this week I am feeling good. I am actually starting to feel like my "old" self again.
I have been having some strong cravings for cookies and candy. Like so strong I am having dreams about eating/buying them. Several times I could have sworn I smelled fresh baked cookies only to realize the only person capable of making them in our household is me and I most certainly had not made any.
Another interesting symptom (if you will) this pregnancy is my emotions. I am not a huge cryer. But with this pregnancy I am on the verge of sobbing constantly...over nothing! This really didn't happen with my other ones. I guess this is what it feels like to be a normal girl! Haha
My skin this pregnancy has been crummy. It was like this with Saffryn so maybe it means another girl?!?!
Well that's all I can think of so far. Looking forward to the second trimester! Here is a picture of my 12 th week!

Valentines Flowers
Dan brought me home some flowers for Valentines Day, such a sweet hubby! I think Saffryn was actually more excited about them than I even was. She ran up when she saw them and started jumping around. Then she asked if she could hold them. She also wanted to smell them. It took me forever to get them back from her so I could put them in the vase. She thought they were the best thing!
Welp I know what she will be getting next big holiday...Lol!
Here are some pictures of her and the flowers.

A First
But let me back up a bit. After dinner with my mother in law and sister in law my mother in law took Saffryn to the bathroom and she started crying and really didn't go very much. She said her bottom hurt her. To tell you the truth I didn't worry about it because with a 2 year old potty time can be a struggle and it is hard to know if this is something to worry about or just a 2 year old wanting some control.
So fast forward about an hour or more and we are getting ready for bedtime, and she starts fighting potty time again. Now this is really not like her. I encourage her to go and she is crying a lot. When she is done I notice a bit of blood in the toilet! I wipe really well and try not to freak out. First thing I did??? Googled it! Lol! It seemed to fit the bill for a uti and nothing more serious because she seemed ok otherwise, no fevers or fatigue. I figure I will just call the Dr in the morning and continue on with bedtime.
Then after a minute my mom anxiety kicked in and I decided to call the nurse on call just to get a second opinion. They had a high call volume so they said it could take up to an hour to get back to me. So we continue on with bedtime.
About an hour or a little more I get a call back from the nurse. She is super sweet and cheerful and puts me at ease right away. She asks me some questions and seems so cheerful that I suspect my opinion was correct to wait until the morning. Then she says in the sweetest voice, "I am looking at my supervisor and she is shaking her head yes. We both think you need to take your daughter into the ER now."
I think my jaw hit the floor. I feel panic rising a bit. So I ask just to confirm, "you want me to wake her up and take her right now?"
"We typically like to have them seen within 4 hours of something like this just to confirm it is not a kidney infection. That can become really serious really fast. So go ahead and take her to the hospital."
Oh my. Well Dan is out of town at a work dinner about 1 1/2 hours away. So I call him ASAP and tell him to meet me at the hospital. I call my mother in law and asked if she could come and watch Pierce so I could wake up Saffryn and go. She and my sister in law rushes over.
I am trying to stay calm and keep thinking she seemed fine. My mother in law and sister in law arrive and we get a plan. My sister in law would stay with a sleeping Pierce and my mother in law will come with me so I didn't have to take her alone.
I wake her up and put her in the car and drive to the hospital. Thankfully it is not vey busy and we get checked in right away. She does not have a fever and is being so cheerful and brave. She thought it was pretty cool to have a special braclet with her name on it.
All was going really well until it came time to pee in the cup. She did not want to. I finally got her to go a tiny amount. The nurses were amazing and so patient. They tried to work with what I gave them and brought her some water and a slush to get her bladder a bit more full to help.
The Dr. came in and said it was not enough urine so we needed to try again. He suggested a dose of ib profen to help with the pain and hopefully encourage her to pee. We had to wait thirty minutes for that to kick in. While we were waiting the nurses came in and turned on Finding Nemo on the tv in our room. They also gave her some coloring pages and some crayons. She was in heaven. I told you they were amazing!
Dan got there about this time and joined the adventure. The Dr. came back and said with the little urine we gave them they ran a basic urine test and found blood and some bacteria in it, which is what they were expecting. They wanted to run a micro culture test thingy to get a closer look and see what bacteria was there. So we really needed that urine sample.
So a few minutes later we try again. Dan and I try bribing her with everything we can think of. But she just cried and wouldn't go. We weren't sure if it because it was painful or if she just didn't like the cup being there or what. So we give up after a while and tell the Dr. He said we could get a urine from home and just start the antibiotics since they were confident something was going on. So we got checked out and went to the pharmacy. It is pushing 12:30 at this point.
We get home and relieve the ladies. Then Saffryn goes on the potty and I was able to get a sample. Called the Dr. and they wanted the sample right then. So Dan put Saffryn to bed and I drove back to the hospital to drop off the sample. Got back home and to sleep at 2 am. Phew!
Well this morning I called our pediatrician and talked about what had happened. They called the ER and got the results back from the culture. It was all clear. What??? I am kind of confused about it because they initially saw blood and other stuff in the urine. But I guess after a closer look it wasn't anything. The Dr. said to keep her on the antibiotics just to be sure and to keep an eye on her.
Oh man. What a crazy 12 hours we had.
First I have to thank my mother in law for coming. She helped me with support and helped Saffryn (who just adores her) feel at ease and have some fun!!!! So very thankful for her. Also for my sister in law who stayed back and kept an eye on Pierce!!! She helped so much and then made us cookies today!!! Thank you!!!
Wow this is getting long...lol. But I am also just so thankful. I kept thinking how many people have to take their child to the ER and not have such an easy experience. My heart truly broke for them last night. This is the first ER experience for us. That in itself is a lot to be thankful for!!! God has so blessed us.
Saffryn is doing great today. She is tired, but so are the rest of us!!! She hasn't complained about going potty today. I am so glad for it and for her good experience with those staff!
Here are a few pictures from our trip... Yup I'm that mom!
I am so very proud of my daughter. It was wayyyy past her bedtime and she was as sweet as could be! She was so cooperative (except about peeing in a cup...but really who enjoys that)! She is a serious trooper!!!!
Hoping that was our first and last trip to the ER. Hey a mom can hope right?!?!? ;)

It's Fun...
That is Saffryn's new catch phrase! We hear it all the time. We were bored at home a few weeks ago and really wanted to go out and "do" something with the kids. We came up with bowling. She. Loved. It!!!!!!
So she has been telling me ever since, "Mom, it's fun to go bowling." Like...hint hint. Hahah! So yesterday evening we decided to go ahead and take the kids again. And once again it was a huge success!
So first we got checked in and they gave ALL of us shoes. This was the first time she had actual bowling shoes. Last time they said she could wear socks...but it turns out they have shoes in her size! They also offered to fill out our score sheet with our names so it would be ready when we got to our lane. Needless to say they got a few names wrong...more on that in a minute! We then picked out our balls and ordered a pizza and got our shoes on.
She thought the shoes were pretty neat! I told her they were kind of slippery so she needed to be careful...well she was afraid to walk after that. LOL! Silly goose. So we practiced a little bit and she just stomped away. Once we got settled it was time for us to bowl.
I know this picture is a little blurry. It was really hard to take it with my camera phone (i forgot my other). But they spelled Saffryn's name with an I instead of a Y...even though I spelled it out loud for them. Then I guess they thought I said Stan...and they somehow got my name right. This really cracked me up!
Here is a picture of the little miss getting her ball and getting ready to bowl. So before you get any ideas she was not strong enough to lift the ball she just walked over to it and showed me which one was ours. Then either Dan or myself carried the ball to the lane and let her roll it down to the pins. She thought it was great.
Not too long after that our pizza came. So we took turns eating pizza, drinking pink lemonade (which by the way totally hit the spot) and bowling. Saffryn was giving so many high fives and cheering for all of us. She waited patiently for her turn and really had a good night.
Don't worry I did not forget about little Pierce. He had a good time, too! He got to eat some crackers and baby yogurt while watching the world around him. Such a sweet and patient boy! Of course I have to say that I won the game with a score of 107...yippee! Dan was second place and Saffryn was close behind...hehe! Well after our game I took Saffryn to the bathroom and we passed by the go-cart track. She could not stop talking about them. So after we packed and cleaned everything up we headed over there to watch for a few minutes.
Both kids thought that was a blast!!! Saffryn kept telling us, "Maybe when I am 3 I could try the cars!" Haha. So funny. Well all the way home Saffryn said, "Mom it is SO fun to go bowling." You know something...it IS fun to go bowling!

Pierce is 9 months
STATS:
Weight 21 lbs 8 oz. 64th percentile
Height 28.75 inches 63 rd percentile
Wearing size 12 month clothing (though it is getting small on him).
Size 4 diapers
MISCHIEVOUS:
This boy is crazy. He can somehow spot the things he should not have and makes a beeline for them. His sister never really did that. But the worst part is when he is into something he shouldn't be and I tell him "no" in a firm voice he starts laughing!!!! He gives me this look like, "yea right mom you can't possibly be upset with me". He is such a charmer and knows it! Oh my...we are in trouble with this one!!!!
BUSY: He is so so busy. Constantly on the move! He is crawling everywhere, pulling up and cruising around furniture and pushing toys! He will not sit still for diaper or clothes changes. He does his own thing a lot, but still has the ability to annoy his sister by getting into her stuff....well what else are brothers for.
EATING: A little bit after I found out I was pregnant my milk started to dry up. I know I could have probably tried harder to keep my supply up, but Dan and I both felt like that was my body's way of telling me it could not do both. So we went all cold turkey on him and he did great! Just a few short weeks earlier he was not even taking a bottle, but in God's perfect timing he took a bottle just in time. I cannot imagine how stressful it would have been on both of us if he wouldn't take a bottle and my milk dried up!!!! He is now working on table foods, too. He loves Cheerios, most fruit, crackers, bread, beans, rice and noodles! It is fun to think that soon he will just be eating what we are!
LANGUAGE: He understands SO much now. He responds to simple commands, like come here or do you want to eat. He is signing for more. He babbles a lot. His favorite thing to say is, "a da." it is so sweet in his little voice. He also enjoys screaming in a very high pitch frequency...not my favorite. Lol!!!
OVERALL: He is a mostly sweet and happy boy. He is super easy going...but is determined and can have a stubborn streak. He loves hugs and kisses. He loves playing outside. He loves balls, remotes and wheels...boy through and through! He is sleeping through the night now and is taking 1-2 naps a day. He is so great. We are all crazy about him!

Awkward
I am almost 11 weeks pregnant. Today is my first day in maternity clothes...I could not hold out any longer! It feels so much better. But its hard because I am at that awkward stage of NOT fitting in any regular clothes, but not having that round belly that shows the world you are pregnant (and have them ask if you are having twins because you are so huge....). So you feel silly for wearing maternity clothes but I have been in sweat pants for the last 2 weeks so for my poor husbands sake I think this is the better route :) I have a doctor's appt next week so I will probably get a belly picture then and fill in any details.
As you may have noticed from my lack of posts recently pregnancy fatigue as kicked in full force. I am hoping I only have a few more weeks of this because I am sick of going to bed at 9 and having no energy for anything extra. It is all I can do to keep all of us fed, clothed, cleaned up and safe. Besides that and needing to eat every hour or two I feel pretty good. So far this has been the easiest pregnancy I have had! So thankful for that!!!
On a completely random note I really really hate planning meals, making the shopping list, going grocery shopping, put the food away and making dinner. We really need to start saving for a personal chef...hahah! But seriously don't like that whole thing. I find it so hard and exhausting with 2 kids...it is seeming like it will be impossible with 3. Any tips would be most welcomed!
The kids are doing great. Saffryn is hilarious and so smart. However the 2 year old tantrums are still around. I know it is totally normal but that doesn't make them any less annoying or exhausting. Sometimes it helps my sanity to sing "You can't always get what you want" by the Rolling Stones...just fyi.
Pierce is so busy and mischievous! He is full of personality and sweetness. His 9 month post will be coming soon.
My husband is great and super supportive! He is so patient with me and my shenanigans. He has made several craving runs and has had to endure lonely nights while I fall fast asleep so early! Hehe. He is a saint!
Well that is a small summary of what has been going on! Hopefully more to come soon!

Humbled
In the middle of my deep sleep nap (hey this preggo momma needs any sleep she can get) I am woken up by my not so quiet or tactful toddler. She has no pants or underwear on and comes into my room saying, "I need a wipe momma." The loud chatter just continues and let's face it I am CRANKY. I did not want to wake up let alone wake up to my toddler saying she had a poopy accident and needed some wipes. So I rudely get up and stomp to her room expecting to find a huge and crazy mess. But all I found was her undies on the floor with a tiny little mark on them. That tells me she was trying to hold it and had just a little come out. She had finished in the toilet. What a good girl. Well we get the underwear cleaned up and snack time started and I realized I was very rude to her.
I asked her to stop with snack because I needed to tell her something. So she stopped and I said something along the lines of I was really rude and cranky when I got woke up and I was sorry. She did the right thing coming in and didn't do anything wrong. Momma was kind of mean and I asked her to forgive me.
She sat quietly through my speech and when I was finished she looked at my face and rubbed my arm and said, "It's ok Momma."
Its hard admitting you are wrong...especially to your child. But it is so sweet having them forgive you!
